Bambu Lab
Bambu Lab in Australia
Bambu Lab is a desktop 3D printer manufacturer that has grown rapidly since its launch in 2022, building a reputation for fast, reliable printers with automated calibration that reduces the setup time traditionally required for high-quality 3D printing. The brand's multi-material printing system, which uses a filament management unit to switch automatically between up to four colours or materials mid-print, helped establish Bambu Lab as a leader in making multi-colour printing accessible without complex manual procedures.
The Bambu Lab range at Everyday Home Living covers the complete Australian product lineup including printers from the A, P, X, and H series, AMS and AMS Lite multi-material systems, and a broad selection of filaments across PLA, PETG, TPU, and specialty materials. All Bambu Lab products sold here are genuine Australian stock.
Choosing the Right Bambu Lab Printer
The A series uses an open-frame CoreXY design with automated calibration and is well suited to beginners and budget-conscious users who want reliable results without the complexity of an enclosed machine. The A1 Mini is the most compact and affordable entry point, while the A1 provides a larger build volume. Both A series models are compatible with the AMS Lite for up to four-colour printing.
The P series adds a full enclosure, expanding material compatibility to include ABS, ASA, and carbon-fibre composites requiring a stable printing temperature. The X series builds on the P series with additional sensors and a faster multi-material toolhead. The H series covers large-format printing for users who need a build volume beyond what the P and X series provide.
Filament and Multi-Material Printing
The Bambu Lab filament range covers PLA Basic, PLA Matte, PLA Silk, PETG, TPU, and specialty materials including PLA-CF and PA-CF composites. All use the standard 1.75mm diameter on 1kg spools. Bambu Studio includes optimised print profiles for Bambu Lab filaments, reducing the need for manual settings adjustment.
Multi-colour printing requires a compatible AMS or AMS Lite unit. The AMS range feeds up to four filament spools automatically. Browse the 3D printers collection for the complete printer lineup, or explore the full 3D Printing range for all Bambu Lab products at Everyday Home Living.
Are Bambu Lab printers suitable for beginners?
Yes, particularly the A1 and A1 Mini. Bambu Lab printers are designed to produce quality results with minimal manual calibration, using automatic bed levelling, flow rate compensation, and vibration compensation that run automatically before each print. Bambu Studio software guides users through slicing, material settings, and print submission. Most users can achieve good results from their first print without prior experience in 3D printing.
What is the AMS and do I need one?
The Automatic Material System (AMS) is an optional add-on that enables multi-colour and multi-material printing by automatically feeding and switching between up to four filament spools. It is not required for single-colour printing. The AMS and AMS 2 Pro are compatible with P, X, and H series printers. The AMS Lite is designed for A series models. Confirm the AMS version compatible with your chosen printer before purchasing.
Is Bambu Lab filament compatible with other 3D printers?
Bambu Lab filaments use the standard 1.75mm diameter and are compatible with most FDM printers from other manufacturers that accept this filament size. Conversely, most third-party 1.75mm filaments are also usable in Bambu Lab printers. Bambu Studio's automatic material profiles apply specifically to Bambu Lab-branded spools; manual profiles can be used for third-party materials.
What is the difference between PLA, PETG, and ABS?
PLA is the most commonly used desktop printing material, offering ease of printing, good surface detail, and minimal warping, suited to most decorative and functional prints not exposed to elevated temperatures. PETG combines easier printing than ABS with better impact resistance and temperature tolerance than PLA, making it a versatile choice for functional parts. ABS offers higher heat and impact resistance than both but requires an enclosed printer and good ventilation. For most general printing, PLA is the recommended starting material.
